William Cotton Esq.

Director, Bank of England, and Governor 1843-1845. Invented an automatic weighing machine for sovereigns, introduced in 1844, known as "the governor", weighing sovereigns at the rate of 23 per minute, and capable of discriminating to 1/10,000 of a grain..
