Henry Dyke Acland

Son of John Barton Arundel Acland. Education at Christ’s College and Oxford. He was a barrister at Inner Temple 1891, New South Wales 1892, and New Zeland 1904.
Henry Acland was a member of the Senate of the University of New Zealand and Chairman of the Canterbury College Board of Governors for 11 years. He was President of the Christchurch branch of the WEA and served on the WWEA Dominion Council. He was also President of the New Zealand Sheepowners’ Federation and a member of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board. He served on the Christchurch City Council, 1911-1914 and was a candidate for the Avon electorate in 1914.
