Funeral report in The Times, Saturday, 29 Nov 1924, p.15, reads: SIR W.A. DYKE ACLAND. The funeral service for Admiral Sir William Alison Dyke Acland was held yesterday in All Saints' Church, Babbacombe, Devonshire. The officiating clergy were Canon L.W. Bevan (vicar), the Rev. H. Powell, and the Rev. J.L. Noseworthy. Outside the church members of the local Navy and Army Veterans' Association, and Boy Scouts formed a guard of honour, and the mourners present were the Hon. Lady Acland (widow), Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Dyke Acland (son and daughter-in-law), Lieutenant-Commander Hubert G. Dyke Acland, R.N., and Mrs. Dyke Acland (son and daughter-in-law), Mr. Henry Dyke Acland (brother), the Hon. Mrs. Seymour (sister-in-law), and the staff at Wilmead. The burial will be at Holywell Cemetery, Oxford, this morning.
Funeral report in The Times, 1 December 1924, p. 15, reads (in part): SIR WILLIAM DYKE ACLAND. / The burial of Admiral Sir William Alison Dyke Acland too place on Saturday in Holywell Cemetery, Oxford. After the funeral service at Babbacombe, Devon, on Friday, the body was taken to the cathedral, where it remained for the night. The officiating clergyman was the Rev. A. H. Stanton, vicar of St. Peter-in-the-East, Oxford, who read the committal prayers at the graveside. The cathedral choir attended, and the chief mourners were:--- / The Hon. Mrs. Seymour (sister-in-law), Viscount and Viscountess Hambleden, Miss Brinton and Miss M. D. Brinton (cousins), Mrs. Codrington (sister-in-law), Miss Power, Mrs. Abel Smith, Miss Ruth Acland (niece), and Mr. H. A. Dyke Acland (nephew). ...Admiral, Royal Navy. Deputy Lieutenant of Devon, and a Justice of the Peace for Oxfordshire and Devon. He held the office of Admiral Superintendent of the Gibraltar Dockyard, 1902-1904.
